Joe's weekend forecast........

A&M@KU
Aggies will bounce back with a decisive victory over the Jayhawks. Look for a big day passing by Stephen McGee, as KU's DB's are weak, and Koenning wants to quiet critics saying we can't throw. Also, Mike Goodson has his first 100 yard rushing game at A&M.
A&M 38 Kansas 17

Missouri @ Tceh
This will be the best game of the day. The Tigers are for real, and are too much for Tech at Jones T&A. Harrell goes from hero at Kyle to goat at home with 3 picks.
Missouri 31 Tceh 24

Texas/OU
I have no idea who will win this game and really don't care. Actually, that's not true. I have interest in the game, and will watch it, and if I have to pick a winner, I'd probably go with OU. The talent on these teams is close, so I give the coaching edge to Stoops.
OU 24 Texas 14

yeah. definitely not decisive, but it's a road win. those have been rare the last few years.

Our defense played great. Unfortunately, so did the Jayhawk defense, and they capitalized on every mistake we made. We let one slip away last week, and got away with one this week....

well, I was off on the Tech score (I thought it would be closer), be I nailed the "hero to goat" part.

I can't believe Tech fans at Jones T&A were actually booing Graham Harrell. Great fans.

If you'd been there and seen his arrogance toward the fans where I was sitting, you'd understand. I didn't boo, but I don't blame those who did.

Harrell needs to grow up or go back to Ennis where he's protected.

I'm unsure if even Zebbie ever played such a terrible game - sure he had yards, but he made exceptionally poor decisions throughout the game.

He deserved to stay on the bench because he ensured the offense of really having no chance.

in other words, if he doesn't like being bood, he should get out of Lubbock. I'll buy that.

Not really. I don't want a QB that doesn't have mental toughness. If he's more worried about what fans are saying about him than he is about his own reads - which was evident last night - than common sense tells me he's not who I want leading this offense.

Time to grow up, Harrell. This isn't high school.

I would be ashamed if Aggie fans booed any Aggie player during a game. If you're not there to cheer for and support your team and the players, then go home. Critique his reads all you want after the game from your couch, but not while you're at the game.

in my mind, booing your own team is Philadelphia Eagles stuff. If he was playing at the Vet, then I'd tell him to get used to it, but there's no place for that in real fansmanship.

Whatever - I've heard Aggy boo and hiss and cuss just like everybody else.

Trying to corellate booing at a game with what Eagle fans are is completely silly.

grumbling momentarily about something that happens at a game, and actively booing your team or a player are totally different. I have NEVER heard Aggie fans boo an Aggie player or the team, and for that I am glad. (I am sure you will come up with some kind of example of your first hand experience with Aggie booing, and I am not saying it has never happened. I condemn any Aggie who has booed their team or a player.)

I am not going to get into the "boo-ing debate" but I had to laugh at Blake's complete condemnation of Harrell. This is classic "bandwagon" material.

Blake, do you remember last weekend in College Station? This is the same guy who bailed your team out with a couple of critical passes and a hail mary at the end of the game. Your team was completely whipped in the second half and your defense was spent. This guy stepped in the most important game of the year for Tech fans (AKA the Tech Superbowl).

I know you missed most of the second half because your face was buried in the cell phone sending text messages....But spare us the "what have you done for me lately" bullshit. That is classic fan ignorance, I expect more out of you.

According to your logic, OU fans should kick Adrian Peterson off the team and boo him off the field for fumbling against Texas. I hope you can comprehend how ridiculous that sounds.

Pardon the interruption, but I can't help but point out that the Terry brothers keep pointing to Harrell's pass as a "hail mary." It wasn't. It was a 37 yard pass against single coverage. I know you've been watching football for a long time, so I'm sure you will agree. Just trying to keep it real.

Magnum said...

call it what you want Jorgy. The facts remain: Harrell had to throw a bomb to the endzone for a come from behind victory. Many call that a hail mary.

Brian,

A little bit of trivia for you...how long was the original "hail mary" between Staubach and Pearson (coining the phrase)?

Answer: it was a 45 yard pass in the air...Pearson ran in for the final 5 yards after he caught it. Harrell's pass was a "hail mary" at 39 yards in the air. Furthermore, if you had been there, you would understand how long the ball floated in the air.

No offense, but if you don't understand what happened or the history of the hail mary, don't try and correct "the Terry brothers".

bake said...

So what's the standard for a pass being a Hail Mary then - over 39 yards in the air?

Is that the standard for a "bomb" as well?

Sounds like Aggy doesn't have a clue - for a change...

For the record, any pass Bobby McGee throws that covers over 10 yards is a Hail Mary.
