Year 2 for Coach Tubs at Texas Tech still bring much skepticism from those loyal to the Pirate. The recent release of "Swing Your Sword" has made Tech fans even more impatient for Tubs to either start winning, or walk the plank. I believe Tommy Tuberville, if given the time to implement his system in Lubbock, will be a winner there.
The Aggies on the other hand, have high expectations from fans, and on a national level. Eighteen returning starters will field an even better defense, and showcase another high-powered offense, with arguably the two best running backs in the Big 12, and one of the top 3 receivers, in Jeff Fuller. The big question mark over the Ags is, can they withstand the high expectations hanging over them, and can they avoid being distracted by all the talk of leaving the Big12 for the SEC. I believe these question marks are answered by good coaching, and I believe Sherman will be the difference maker this year, versus previously highly regarded Aggie teams (e.g. 1999).
Time will tell, but I'm just glad that the time is upon us!
Predictions to follow, over the weekend.

The funny thing about tubbervilles season last year is that it looked oddly similar that mike leach...8-5.
Classic texas tech football.
Actually, Brad, it wasn't that similar. Tubs blamed his own shortcomings on 1) the wind 2) the jumbotron that's not HD 3) fans not being supportive
Leach, on the other had, always placed blame squarely where it belonged: on the players and the coaches. Big difference.
As for 8-5 being "oddly similar", I guess you're more or less right, but this team had to scratch and claw to win 8 games. It could have been a 5-7 team, or worse. Leach, it seems, was always in that "could have been better boat" (pun intended)
Regardless, I'm on board with Tubs, and yes, he needs to win. He can recruit, obviously, but now is the time to win. And also to beat aggy.
Blake,
Are you going to post a detailed prediction on the Tech season or the Aggie season? I have Tech going 7-5 during the regular season and then hammering some mid-major team in the Texas Bowl.
Tech gets 3 free wins against cupcakes in non-conference, then beats KU and ISU in conference for 2 more wins.
Then all Tech has to do is take 2 outta 3 against Baylor, K-state and Texas.
That makes 7 wins and another "successful" Tech season.
yes, it is definitely "prediction time"
