Any thoughts on the Rangers this year...does anyone know that today is opening day, does anyone care!

Damnit, the "question mark" key on my computer doesn't work, so I will have to use the "%" as a sub, It really doesn't work, sorry!

Anyways, what do you guys think of the rangers and the moves that John Hart...er...John Daniels made in the off season%

Where are they destined to finish, first or last%

To me, I must admit, there is something about the makeup of this team that intriques me. I like the fact that we really don't have any bonafide superstars. Sure, we've got some studs and future superstars...but there isn't anybody with a "been there, done that attitude".

We have rid ourselves of selfish players like "Sorryano", which makes the team more likeable....but there are question marks everywhere.

Can Brad Wilkerson be a legit leadoff man after hitting .248 last year%

Can Lance Nix efficiently patrol Center Field and break out of the hitting slump that plaqued him last year%

How bout the pitching staff...are we there yet or will it be more of the same garbage from years gone by%

Chalk up another milestone for Billy

Billy Gillespie has done it again, he and the ags keep prooving their critics wrong.

The funny thing is, it didn't even seem like an upset. The underrated ags came in and methodically dismantled an overrated Syracuse team.

We led the entire second half, and at the end of the game, the guys barely celebrated. It was like we expected it.

Again, hats off to big Billy, (1) we controlled the tempo like we always do (2)our kids don't get shellshocked in big games (3) our kids now know how to win.

I just couldn't resist posting this. Blake sent me a link to an article about a guy at Massasoit Community College in Massachusetts, who yelled "remember Chappaquiddick" as the bloated Senator Kennedy began a speech. The irony is that the picture of Kennedy shows him out on the water, and he looks so bloated you could actually mistake him for a drowning victim.

Ted Kennedy was on the prowl in Columbia tonight!

Our boy Teddy K sent me this shot from his phone tonight, live from the A&M/Mizzou game in Columbia. He was witness that the Aggies actually do have a basketball team, and saw our boys in maroon pull out a close victory, and get one step closer to the long-shot NCAA bid!

He tells me he was 7th row, right behind the Aggie bench, and that the team is staying on his floor at the hotel, but you never know when ol' Ted Kennedy is lying.

RC Slocum will be inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame tonight in Waco. Although I have cursed him many times, and his career at A&M ended on a sour note with a dismissal after a 6-6 season, I have much appreciation for what he did for Texas Aggie football in the late eighties and through the nineties.

With a 14 year record of 123-47-2, Slocum is the winningest coach in A&M history, and led A&M to be the only school in SWC history to post 3 consecutive perfect conference records. His "Wrecking Crew" defense led the SWC in all four statistical categories from 1991 through 1993 and led the nation in total defense in 1991. Slocum NEVER had a losing season. The only true blemishes on his career were his two 6-6 seasons ('96 and '02), and his 7-7 record against Texas Tech.

The playoffs -- with the No. 12 flag waving high atop Seattle's Space Needle and another one flapping in the south end of the stadium -- have finally exposed Seattle's 12th man tradition to the rest of the nation, and a stunned College Station -- the official Home of the 12th Man, legally speaking.

Texas A&M officials are hot over what athletic director Bill Byrne termed Seattle's "brazen use of the 12th Man theme" in his Wednesday Internet column.

A&M, whose own 12th Man tradition dates back to 1922, holds two trademark registrations on "12th Man." Secured in 1990 and 1996, the trademarks include entertainment services, "namely organizing and conducting intercollegiate sporting events," and products, such as caps, T-shirts, novelty buttons and jewelry.

The Web site, SeaHawkers.org, the official site of the team's booster club, offers downloadable computer desktop wallpaper that reads: "At Home We are the 12th Man" and "On the Road We are the 12th Man."

Goodson picks A&M: Klein Collins' Michael Goodson, the top-ranked running back in the state, said Monday that he has orally committed to Texas A&M.

Goodson (6-0, 205), who picked the Aggies over USC, said staying in state was too good to pass up. Goodson originally committed to Oklahoma State. He rushed for 973 yards and eight touchdowns on 99 carries for a Klein Collins team that went 3-7.

Briefly: Celina wide receiver Adam James (6-3, 235) said he has committed to Texas Tech. James, the son of former SMU and NFL running back Craig James, picked the Red Raiders over Tulsa. ...

NFL scout goes out on a limb

"Write this down," said NFL evaluator Dan Shonka, a former scout with three NFL teams. "Reggie McNeal will be a better pro quarterback than Vince Young. Vince is a good athlete, but he could be a $50 million mistake."

Reggie supposedly boosted his draft stock significantly yesterday with his MVP performance in the East/West Shrine game, going 9/11 for 211 yards and carrying for 32.

Who the hell is Jenn Sterger?

Just because college football is over, it doesn't mean we have to listen to Longhorn bandwagonners blathering endlessly about their title. LET'S TALK FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES!
Am I the last one to get clued in to Jenn Sterger mania? I had to hear about it on gordonkeith.com, so I know I am way behind. Apparently, this girl Jenn Sterger and her friends, who call themselves the FSU Cowgirls, like to dress in VERY little, and attend Seminole games. Allegedly, Brent Musberger spotted them on TV during the Miami game, and proclaimed: "15,000 red-blooded young American men just signed up to go to Florida State next year".


They post all their pictures on this college site called facebook.com, which I had also never heard of (I am getting very old). I don't remember girls at A&M dressing quite like this at football games...or anywhere else, for that matter.

Now, this Jenn Sterger has gotten so popular, that she is posing in upcoming issues of Maxim and Playboy. If this Jenn Sterger mania continues, we may have to ask her to be an honorary Roosterchick!

Tech players and fans should hold their heads high after yesterday's performance in their biggest game in 30 years. Ultimately, great defense prevailed over high flying, gimmicky offense, just as it always does in big games, but Tech's defense put up their best effort of the season, and arguably, of the last two decades. They were in it the whole time, but the Leach spread offense just couldn't get it done against what may be the best defense in college football.

I know I am not alone in seeing this as a big moral victory for Tech. (LINK: Blackistone)

Much needed commit at Linebacker

Haltom star linebacker Lewis picks Texas A&M

Texas A&M picked up the biggest commitment in its 2006 recruiting class with Haltom linebacker Anthony Lewis committing to the Aggies on Sunday.

"It's been a long process, but they have kind of always been right there throughout the whole recruiting process," Lewis said. "It was a tough decision, but in the end, I had to go with my instincts."

Lewis (6-foot-2, 228 pounds), a member of the Star-Telegram's Elite 11, had narrowed his choices to Oklahoma and Texas A&M. He said last week he wanted to wait until Texas A&M selected its defensive coordinator before making a decision. The Aggies announced Gary Darnell on Friday as the new defensive coordinator. Lewis visited Texas A&M this weekend and had a chance to talk with Darnell.

"I had a very good visit with Coach Darnell," Lewis said. "He seemed to fit in very well there and with the program."

As a senior, Lewis recorded 132 tackles along with five sacks and four forced fumbles.

Lewis is the 16th commitment for the Aggies and the first who was a member of the Star-Telegram's National Top 100 recruits.
