I hope this is a better hire than it looks on the surface

(dude looks like Jerry Glanville)

Gary Darnell
, a coaching veteran who once oversaw two of the worst defensive units in Texas history, is expected to be announced as Texas A&M's new defensive coordinator at 11 a.m. Friday, according to two A&M sources.

I was really hoping for Gary Gibbs. I think that would have given us a big bounce in recruiting some defensive players. This guy doesn't help us in that regard at all. I think I would rather have the real Jerry Glanville.

On the other hand, maybe the guy can coach. He was 2-1 against A&M as Longhorn DC in '94, '95, '96. Those were Mackovic's best years at Texas. They went to the Sun Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and Fiesta Bowl, in that order, and it doesn't look like his defenses gave up too many points until '96.

Most importantly, the only way is up from Tornbush.

Reload could put out a better defense then Torbush.

BTW - he served me a couple of tacos yesterday at Taco Villa.
