Coach: A&M QB McGee played with concussion - slight injury may have factored into A&M's 31-27 defeat, Franchione says.

Texas Tech's Big 12-leading pass defense wasn't all that bedeviled Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee on Saturday, Dennis Franchione said Monday.
The Aggies coach said McGee played the last three quarters of A&M's 31-27 loss at Kyle Field with "a little bit of a slight concussion." Franchione said he believes McGee will be cleared to play Saturday when the Aggies visit Kansas.
Franchione said the play in which McGee "got a little dinged" came early in the second quarter, when he was flung down on a run and hit his head on the turf. Franchione said nobody on the Aggies sideline was aware of the situation until after the game.
"We really didn't know as a staff, or trainers — I'm not even sure Stephen was completely aware of it — until he was telling us (after the game) about how he felt in the first half," Franchione said.
McGee, a sophomore from Burnet, completed just 9 of 20 passes for 109 yards against the Red Raiders. Forty-four of those yards came on a pass to Westlake's Chad Schroeder on the game's final play.

This has to be the most lame excuse for losing a game I have ever heard in my life.
I forsee "Reveille has a bladder infection" coming to an Aggie postgame press conference after the next loss.
So, are you saying McGee didn't really have a concussion? None of the quotes from Fran seem to imply he was saying that was why A&M lost.
Either way, I think Reveille's bladder probably had as much impact on the loss as McGee's head. McGee actually played better in the 2nd half...AFTER the slight concussion, so it doesn't seem to have mattered.
McGee didn't really contribute much in terms of passing yards...I don't think anyone is arguing that. He didn't light it up, but he only had 20 pass plays. That being said, we still need more out of him regardless of the limited attempts.
Maybe this will be another opportunity for Blake to kick Fran in the nuts. Quick question Blake, did you ever make fun of Mack Brown before he won a national title? My guess is that you jumped on the "fire Mack brown" bandwagon then too.
Your football "expertise" isn't worth much...after all, you spent the second half of the A&M game with your face buried in your cell phone sending text messages. By the way, you missed a good game. Apparently, the sight of the aggies running up the gut for 5-6 yards every play was too much for you to take.
We lost on Sat, but we have the same record as you guys, so I am not exactly sure where your cockiness comes from.
What I'm saying is that saying your QB having "a little bit of a slight concussion" is one of the reasons you got your ass beat is lame.
Now, Fraud and Darnell are whining about penalties (see today's DMN)
How hard is it for an Aggy to admit you got your ass handed to you in front of 80,000 of your own fans?

For the record, I don't want the $2 million Fraud getting fired. He needs another extension - just like the one he receieved after being pummelled by Tennessee.

"little bit of a slight concussion" sounds like he's trying to minimize it, not say it cost us the game. please provide a link where he said that's why we lost. otherwise, quit talking about it. I heard one quote from Fran on this, and several from Blake. You are the only one still talking about it.

Doesn't Fraud have a rule about discussing injuries publicly? Does it not apply when you're about go below .500 in wins/losses in your tenure?
The funny thing is, if you asked a lot of the players about having a "little bit of a slight concussion" after a game, most - including anyone who touched the ball several different times - would probably qualify.

Where did he claim McGee's concussion cost A&M the game, as you stated? I think you drew a conclusion and then presented it as a quote from Fran. You got caught matey!

The headline is a quote from the author, not from Franchione. There is no quote to support it either. What do you expect from the Soviet Statesman?

Tech has been a better football team than A&M in recent years. I still think it's funny how different the standards are at each school.
In 2004, A&M goes to the Cotton bowl and loses to a superior SEC team...I call that mediocrity,
In 2005, Tech goes to the Cotton Bowl and loses to a superior SEC team...Blake calls it the greatest season in Tech history.
that is a very interesting comparison, but not surprising when you look at where Aggie football history and tradition versus what they have had at Tech.
Granted, at the end of those seasons, A&M was 7-5, versus Tech being 9-3, but the comparison holds.
Comparing Fraud vs Leach after a key and very disappointing loss:
Leach blames himself, and creates numerous sound bites questioning his team's manhood that are seen and heard all over ESPN the following week. He also credits TCU for showing up and wanting the victory more than his own Tech.
Coach Fraud makes excuses for his QB and team while questioning the refs calls throughout the game. Even his DC gets into it with a truly laughable quote that disparages the refs)
That is just the latest reason why Aggie jokes and cockroaches will be the only thing to survive a nuclear holocaust.
among Leach's quotes that "credit" TCU:
"I'll be nice about that and politically correct like you're supposed to," Leach said. "But that was the sorriest offensive effort I've ever seen. Today, I coached the worst offense in America."
In other words, their offensive performance had nothing to do with TCU playing good defense. It's that quote from Leach that makes you realize that everything complimentary he said about TCU was obligatory and condescending. Leach does this after most games. He has gotten so full of himself that he thinks any Tech loss or close game is only due to Tech's mistakes, and has nothing to do with the other team having talent or ability. It's official...Mike Leach is starring in his own movie.
