Am I supposed to be upset about this?

Injuries knock out two A&M defenders

These guys are both returning starters, and are not the weak point in our defense, but I'm just not feeling the sting one might expect from losing defensive starters here. Our secondary can't get much worse. I think we should just line up prepared to blitz the corners on every down. They're completely ineffective in coverage anyway, so we may as well have them contribute by pressuring the quarterback or runner.

What about Courtney Lewis? His absence was sorely noticed on Saturday, as we don't seem to be able to execute the option at all without him back there.

Don't take this to mean I don't feel for these guys. It sucks that they were injured and out for the season.

Although I don't really pay much attention to specific Ag players, I do wonder why with all of the "great" players A&M always gets - ie those highly regarded recruiting rankings - Torborgbush just can't plug in someone just as talented.

The UT men's hoops team lost Kenny Taylor because of grades. Although there were 3 or 4 other players on team that were highly regarded McDonald's high school All-Americans, the team just flat out quit. Without him, UT still had more talent on its team than most other teams in the country and yet Taylor's problems were blamed instead. (Aldridge was a FR, so I don't think he factors in as much)

I think it comes down to coaching and motivation. Will the Aggies quit like UT did?

This week will be the test of that. Brad and I actually talked about that this morning. If the Ags win this weekend, and away at K-State, they will come into the home game against Iowa State at 5-2. Iowa State is certainly beatable, even by A&M, so they could conceivably get to 6-2 headed into the November stretch (which will be a bitch).

So, you are right, it does all come down to coaching at this point. Can the coach keep the team/season on the tracks, or will the wheels fly off?

Looking at those numbers above is a little scary. If we do win out October, and go into November at 6-2, we will only be 1 game off my prediction, but looking down the barrel of 3 games in which we will be heavy underdogs, 2 of which are on the road. One upset in November would put us at 7-4. Doesn't exactly fit my definition of a successful season.

I don't understand OU's deal either. While a QB would definitely help, those guys aren't exactly short on talent either.

It's more of an attitude with them. Frankly, I'm surprised that Stoops has allowed this to happen. He's already proven himself to be the real deal.
