Throwback?

Jessica's bringing up of the 2006 non-conference slate for Texas Tech gave me an idea. What if Tech, UT, and A&M could get together and have a throwback season? Each could schedule in the same year SMU, TCU, and Rice for their non-conference games, to sort of "recreate" a Southwest Conference season. If they did it in 2008, they could even include Houston, since 2008 is a 12 game season.

Just a thought............

Lowly SMEW and Rice would never play 3 Big XII teams in one year I wouldn't think - too much of a beating, and it would automatically eliminate any bowl hope for either (actually, just Rice).

As for TCU, I wouldn't think they would want to do it either, sort of for the same reasoning, although only 6 wins gets you into a bowl these days.

SMEW should be Div II - I think Sam Houston would beat them handily - hell, even Central Texas Southwest State University would beat them.

just a pipe dream, similar to your I-A vs I-AA comparison. Good backhanded try at boosting Tech's pitiful schedule though.

Hey, I was trying to make the Ags look good for almost losing to the #7 Div II school from San Marcos.

yeah, right. you're always trying to make the Aggies look good. And, "almost losing" is about the same as me saying Tech almost lost to Kansas......didn't happen.

But you just said yourself that Div I comparisons to Div II are not justified. So which is it? Are they, or are they not? One thing is sure though, Frantastic certainly won't have Central Texas on the Ags schedule next year.

nope, we're all I-A next year.

wasn't comparing the two teams, just challenging your definition of "almost"

Yeah, Army and the Citadel are traditional powerhouses - or at least Frantastic will make them both appear to be......Thanks for the afternoon chuckle.

It's still light years better than Sam Houston, Florida International, and Indiana State. I can't believe YOU are now engaging in "schedule smack". The only way Tech could have had a lighter schedule would have been Texas Women's, Wellesley College, and Tel Aviv University.
