Reasons I would love to see the Texas Tech/Florida Cotton Bowl matchup

  1. Tech has only played in one Cotton Bowl, and needs an opportunity to redeem themselves
  2. It would be the first time since '93 that an undefeated team has played in the Cotton Bowl
  3. I would expect quite a shootout between Urban Meyer's Gators and Leach's Spread Raiders
  4. I would love to see Raider Red get his ass kicked by the Gator Band:

OK, just to humor the Aggies so they don't have to think about Boulder today (or Central Texas) (or that Brazos powerhouse, Baylor)

1. I would love for Tech to play again in Dallas (not Carrollton, where you live, Joe). I wouldn'd be too disappointed if it were in 2006 either. For the record, I left my seat at halftime in 1995, found the beer stand, and never made it back to the bleachers. I eventually made my way to the Oyster bar, and continued to drink my sorrows away...

(Tech has played twice in the Cotton Bowl - I think in 1939, against St Marys)

2. If Tech wins every game, obviously this wil not happen. Personally, I do believe Tech has the opportunity to win every game, and although the odds are slim, stranger things have happened. After all, A&M won the Big XII with an overacheiving team a few years back. I have faith (and a lot of booze to ensure it)

3. Florida isn't near that good. It's an east coast team with a big name first year coach, thus all the attention.

4. Raider Red now has a moustache/beard specially made by DuPont that will not tear.

Hilarious - Tech was 10-0 coming into the 1939 Cotton Bowl. Lost to the Fightin' Billy Goats 20-13.

I guess I meant it was Tech's only representation of the SWC at the Cotton Bowl. It's weird that teams like St. Mary's even had a chance to be competitive back then. The Cotton Bowl website describes the St. Marys Gaels as the "darling" of 1938 and the sportswriters' "Cinderella team".

Glad Raider Red got his costume upgraded. Is it flame retardant? What about if it's soaked in bourbon?

also, I forgot you had so gracefully moonwalked away from your 11-0 prediction.
